On the eve of his graduation, a tragic car accident in northern Westchester claimed the life of an 18-year-old senior from Fox Lane High School in the Bedford School District. The victim has been identified as Joshua Martinez-Arana.
According to Police Lt. Jeffrey Gulick, Martinez-Arana and another senior from the Class of 2024 were driving at a high speed along Bedford Road at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday when their vehicle lost control and crashed.
Both students were rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where Martinez-Arana, who was behind the wheel, received treatment for critical injuries but unfortunately succumbed to them.
The other student, whose identity remains undisclosed, is currently in critical condition.
In response to this devastating incident, Bedford School District Superintendent Robert Glass sent a letter to parents, informing them about the tragedy and offering the support of the counseling team to the students affected.
