Jesse Eugene Sala Obituary: Unexpected Death of a Shining Star in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Madonna Catholic Regional School Alumni Mourns the Loss of a Bright Light

Jesse Eugene Sala, a 21-year-old rising senior at Robert Morris University, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a profound impact on his community.

Born on August 17, 2002, in Barberena Santa Rosa, Guatemala, Jesse was the son of John E. Sala, Jr. and his fiancée, Gami-Lou Beli of New Eagle, and Jackie DeBlassio Sala of Long Branch. He graduated with honors from Ringgold High School in 2021 and was cherished by his Dairy Queen crew in Charleroi.

At Robert Morris University, Jesse was more than just a bright light; he was a truly exceptional person who had a profound effect on the school community. He showed unmatched commitment to both his academic work and his leadership positions on campus. Jesse held various positions, including Lead Community Advisor in the Office of Residence Life, President of the Residence Hall Association, and Vice President of the Class of 2025. He was an active member of the RMU Honors Program, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Association of Future Accountants, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Jesse’s unique personality and infectious smile captured the hearts of everyone he met. His loved ones, including his parents, John E. Sala, Jr. and Jackie DeBlassio Sala; siblings, Lesly V. Sala and Nathan L. Sala; paternal grandmother, Monica Sala; maternal grandparents, Johnetta and Dr. Joseph DeBlassio; bonus grandparents, John and Anne Olexik; uncle and aunt, Donald M. and Lisa Sala; uncle, Joe DeBlassio; cousin, Joseph Jayden DeBlassio; aunt and uncle, Jeanene and Mark Marsico; cousins, Isabella and Anna Marsico; aunt and uncle, Jodi and Steve Dusi; cousins, Gabby and Gianna; cousins, Denise Cortese, Francesca Cortese, Donny and Aimee Trunzo, and their families, will deeply miss him.

Jesse’s funeral service was held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Frye Funeral Home, 427 W Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers were recited on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela. Entombment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.

The news of Jesse’s passing has left the community in mourning, with friends and family members struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of such a promising young man. Tributes have been pouring in from all corners, with many expressing their shock and sadness at the news of Jesse’s passing.
