A tragic incident occurred in the rural Sailor Springs area, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old boy from rural Louisville. Caide Weidner was involved in a side-by-side accident on Bucktown Lane, three miles east of Sailor Springs. He was ejected from the vehicle during the incident, which occurred on Friday night.
Caide was initially taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora, where he received immediate medical attention. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred via medical helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Unfortunately, he passed away on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by his loving family.
Caide Weidner was a young boy with a passion for life. He loved farming, operating equipment, hunting, fishing, playing video games, boating, and bringing joy to others. His obituary describes him as a kind and caring child who always had a smile on his face and a hug ready for those around him.
The funeral arrangements for Caide Weidner have been set for ten o’clock on Saturday morning at the Red Brush Christian Church in rural Louisville. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from four to eight pm and on Saturday morning from nine until the start of the service. Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the North Clay FFA chapter in Caide’s memory.
Caide is survived by his parents, Nicholas Weidner and Dena Rinehart; brother, Kirk Weidner; grandparents, Myron and Rhonda Weidner, and Hughlene Rinehart; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He was met at heaven’s gate by his grandpa Albert Lowell Rinehart and cousin Bryce Andrew Rinehart.
The incident occurred on Bucktown Lane, three miles east of Sailor Springs, and involved a side-by-side vehicle. Caide was ejected from the vehicle during the incident and sustained severe injuries. The Clay City Fire Department, County Sheriff’s Department, and Clay County Rescue provided assistance at the scene.
The community is in shock and mourning the loss of this young life. Caide was a student at North Clay Grade School and was loved by all who knew him. His passion for farming and operating equipment was evident in his daily life, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
