Joseph Edmond Stewart Obituary
A fatal hit-and-run incident in Detroit has led to the charging of a 25-year-old food delivery driver. Joseph Edmond Stewart, a resident of Grand Blanc, has been arraigned on multiple charges including failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing serious impairment or death, and moving violation causing death.
The incident occurred on June 8 at approximately 8:58 p.m. when Stewart allegedly struck Delia Dinwiddie, a 56-year-old woman from Detroit, while driving southbound on Linwood Street near Leslie Street.
After the collision, Stewart left the scene. Dinwiddie was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Following his arrest by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office on June 12, Stewart was handed over to the Detroit Police Department. He has been granted a $100,000 personal bond.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for June 25, with a preliminary examination set for July 1.
