The individual who perished in a single-vehicle collision on Monday has been identified by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Responding to a call at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday regarding a crash in the 6300 block of Northeast 46th Street, deputies discovered a white sedan that had overturned in the ditch.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was Brock Anthony Pope, 34, from Bondurant, who was declared deceased at the scene.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office determined that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed.
According to the most recent data from the Iowa Department of Transportation, there have been 122 fatalities on Iowa roads this year.
This figure is 24 lower than the same period in 2023. On average, 350 individuals have lost their lives in statewide accidents annually over the past five years.
