Sherrod Slayton Death
The Jackson Police Department is currently looking into a homicide that occurred on the east side of the city early Saturday. The victim, identified as Sherrod Slayton, aged 35, was shot.
The incident took place at approximately 2:51 a.m. in a parking lot on Elizabeth Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Slayton in the parking lot at 651 Elizabeth Street with a gunshot wound to the head.
Preliminary findings suggest that there was a confrontation between Slayton and a male suspect in the vicinity. It seems that Slayton was running through the parking lot when he was shot and killed. The male suspect remains at large as of early Saturday.
