Alex Calderon Death – The Mesa Police Department confirmed that a man has passed away as a result of a tragic collision in Mesa. The incident occurred at the intersection near Southern Avenue and Dobson Road at approximately 10 p.m. on Friday. Upon receiving reports of the crash, officers arrived at the scene to find a Mazda SUV and a motorcycle involved. The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Alex Calderon, was discovered partially trapped under the vehicle.
Despite efforts to extricate him, Calderon succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. Calderon was the sole individual riding the motorcycle at the time of the accident.
The occupants of the Mazda sustained minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital following treatment.
According to police, the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed westbound on Southern Avenue, maneuvering between vehicles in the same direction.
The Mazda was reportedly waiting at a red light on Southern, preparing to make a right turn onto Sycamore Avenue when the collision occurred. The driver of the Mazda underwent testing for impairment and was processed for DUI by standard procedure for fatal incidents.
However, the results of the tests are not expected to be available for several weeks. Mesa police have not disclosed any further details regarding the incident.
