The identity of the individual who drowned at Lake Monticello on Saturday has been disclosed by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, as stated by Coroner Chris Hill.
Joel Joseph Martin, an 18-year-old resident of Blair, was swimming at Lake Monticello when he submerged and failed to resurface on June 8th. Following the incident, emergency crews and dive teams were summoned to the scene and Martin was subsequently found.
The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), is currently conducting an investigation into the matter, with an autopsy already scheduled.
