Officials have reported that a tragic head-on collision in Texas resulted in the death of seven individuals and left two children seriously injured. The incident took place on FM 1433, approximately eight miles north of Carrizo Springs, around 4:40 p.m. local time.
Rene Cordova, the spokesperson at the Del Rio office of the Texas Department of Public Safety, provided these details.
Carrizo Springs is situated about 116 miles southwest of San Antonio. According to Cordova, a black Chrysler 300 was traveling westbound on FM 1433 at a high speed when it lost control and crossed over to the wrong side of the road. It collided head-on with a 1998 red Dodge pickup that was traveling eastbound.
Following the collision, the Chrysler rolled into a ditch and caught fire, resulting in the death of the driver and three passengers.
All four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, and due to the severity of their injuries, their identities have not yet been determined.
The driver and two passengers of the Dodge were also pronounced dead. Cordova identified them as Isabel Small (50), San Juanita De La Cruz (64), and Victor Manuel Martinez (83), all residents of Crystal City, Texas.
Two children who were also in the Dodge were airlifted from the crash site to University Hospital in San Antonio. At present, their conditions remain unknown. The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently conducting an investigation into the crash.
