Reyna Cruz Death
Reyna Cruz, a 24-year-old woman, has been identified by authorities as the individual who tragically lost her life after being hit by a van just north of Bellingham last week.
The Whatcom Medical Examiner, Deb Hollis, confirmed that Cruz’s last known address was in Lynden. Initially, authorities had mistakenly stated that the woman was 33 years old and from Seattle.
However, Trooper Kelsey Harding from the Washington State Patrol clarified on Monday that Cruz had someone else’s identification with her at the time of the accident. The incident occurred at the Smith Road intersection on the southbound lane of the Guide Meridian around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10.
A 2019 Chevrolet van, driven by a man from Lynden who promptly reported the incident, struck and fatally injured Cruz. Tragically, Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
