There are now more details available regarding the early Saturday morning high-speed collision in Pasadena that resulted in the deaths of three young men and the critical injuries of three others.
According to Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo, the terrible event happened at around 2:38 a.m. when a Tesla Model 3 drove off the road and crashed into an empty structure in the 2300 block of Foothill Boulevard at Vista Ave.
Six people were inside the westbound Tesla when the driver blew a red light and lost control, according to police and local television news. The Tesla was moving at least double the speed limit at the time.
The crash claimed the lives of the driver, identified as 22-year-old Mohed Samuel, and one of the passengers, 20-year-old Pasadena City College student Stefan Michael Pfeiffer.
