Kelly Watts Fredericton, NB Death: Horse Trainer and Rider died unexpectedly

Kelly Watts died unexpectedly. This was made known by the Fredericton Raceway community on a social media post on 13th of May 2024. Further information about his will be announced duly.

Information about Kelly Watts

Kelly was up close to Fredericton Raceway and has a long history with harness racing. Along with his mother Marlene and grandpa Alfred Palmer, he and his brothers Billy and Terry helped manage the family stable. His father, the renowned horseman Sheldon Watts, was also involved in the operation.

Over the years, Kelly has trained some outstanding horses, such as Princetown Cody, one of the best trotters ever at Fredericton Raceway, who set a record of 1:56.2 at the Meadowlands, a distance of more than a mile, 25 years ago.

In addition, he helped shape several other stake and overnight horses, including Jaguar Knight and Balmaghie Breeze, both of whom were excellent horses for the Watts family.
