The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has released the identities of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives early Saturday morning.

Following a pursuit by deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Maroa Avenue, near Ashlan Avenue.

The motorcyclist, traveling at a high speed, collided with a dark-colored sedan that was in motion, resulting in the fatalities of both the rider and the driver.

The deceased have been identified as James Baker, a 25-year-old resident of Fresno, who was riding the motorcycle, and Juan Jaramillo, a 60-year-old resident of Fresno, who was driving the sedan.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit of the respective departments is conducting an investigation to determine the party at fault.

Before the collision, law enforcement had observed the motorcycle being operated recklessly within the city, prompting them to initiate a pursuit.

Deputies sought assistance from air support and additional units as the motorcyclist approached the intersection.
