On Monday, May 6, 2024, Captain Derrick Nester, who had served with the Fire Department of the Borough of Wyomissing for seventeen years, passed tragically abruptly at his residence. At that time, he was aged 43.
The expertise and experience that Derrick possessed made him a reliable source of information, regardless of the circumstances or the emergency that arose.
Jill Miller of Oley, Pennsylvania, wrote in a social media tribute; this one is to you my dear friend it’s so hard to believe that just a week ago we were having drinks and planting flowers and today you are gone.
It is hard to find a friend like you in the world that would drop everything in a split second to help or just to talk. We had some of the best talks about life. I will cherish our friendship forever until we meet again my dear friend Derrick Nester
The Wyomissing Fire Department was established in 1992 as a result of a merger between the Wyomissing Fire Company No. 1 and the Berkshire Heights Volunteer Fire Company No. 2.
