The Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Panama City Police Department have been deployed to Bay High School on Harrison Avenue in response to a threat of violence posted on social media earlier today.
Law enforcement is present and has secured the campus.
There is no active shooter situation.
The threat is currently under investigation, and law enforcement will maintain a presence on campus during this time.
The Bay District Schools released the following statement:
All students are secure – Bay High School under Hard Lockdown. We want to reassure you that all students are safe following a precautionary hard lockdown at Bay High School.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we are implementing all necessary measures to guarantee their security.
Earlier today, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office launched a comprehensive investigation in response to a concerning social media post.
Consequently, we have enforced a hard lockdown at Bay High School to facilitate this investigation.
We understand that this may raise concerns, but please be assured that law enforcement officials are present on-site and actively managing the situation.
Throughout this hard lockdown, no students will be allowed to enter or leave the campus.
This measure is implemented to preserve the integrity of the investigation and to safeguard the well-being of everyone on campus.
We kindly request your cooperation and understanding during this period. We want to stress that the safety of our students and staff remains our utmost priority.
We are collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies to promptly and effectively resolve this matter.
