An accident that occurred close to Magnolia and resulted in the death of a lady is being investigated by the Delaware State Police. A Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV was traveling southbound on Clapham Road, nearing Jury Drive, close to the entrance of Barker’s Landing, on the evening of Saturday, April 6, 2024, at around 11:58 p.m.
Due to circumstances that are still being investigated, the driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to leave the road and drive into a retention pond, where it became submerged with her remaining inside. As soon as rescue crews were able to extract the driver from the SUV, they immediately began their efforts to save lives.
The woman who was driving the Chevrolet, who was 46 years old and from Magnolia, Delaware, was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening. She passed away as a result of her injuries on Sunday, April 7th, 2024.
Her identity is being concealed until her family is informed of the situation. While the incident was being inspected and cleaned up, the route was closed for approximately three hours.
An investigation into this incident is still being conducted by the Collision Reconstruction Unit of the Delaware State Police Troop 3. In the event that anyone witnessed this collision, the state police are requesting that they get in touch with Master Corporal J. Lane by dialing (302) 698-8457.
