At least 2 killed, multiple trapped following tornado in Barnsdall, Oklahoma

There is significant damage in Barnsdall, trees down and power lines down.

A tornado has been confirmed in Barnsdall, with reports of 2 fatalities and numerous individuals trapped in its aftermath.

Around 9 p.m., a tornado warning was issued for the Barnsdall vicinity, situated southeast of Pawhuska and southwest of Bartlesville.

By 9:40 p.m., a tornado emergency was declared for the town as the storm progressed towards Bartlesville.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, approximately 30-40 homes sustained damage in the Barnsdall area following the issuance of the tornado emergency.

Storm spotters have noted several houses destroyed. Search and rescue operations are currently underway.

On Facebook, the Barnsdall Nursing Home shared that their facility sustained a direct impact from the storm and requested prayers. Washington County Emergency Management has reported that both lanes of Highway 75 are obstructed due to debris.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol provided assistance with rescues, as individuals may have been trapped inside their storm shelters. Additionally, a significant gas leak was reported in the vicinity.

According to the National Weather Service Tulsa, a significant and damaging tornado passed through Barnsdall around 9:30 pm.

At one stage, a tornado emergency was declared by the NWS, which remains in effect for Bartlesville, Dewey, and Barnsdall, Oklahoma, with a destructive tornado on the ground.
