As of Thursday, April 25, Memphis Police had not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
The individual who was fatally shot in Frayser on Saturday has been recognized as Khalid Al Ghazali, the proprietor of a nearby business.
Al Ghazali was the owner of Royal Bee Beauty Supply, a retail store located on North Watkins, which specializes in hair products, wigs, and cosmetic essentials.
Al Ghazali passed away on Saturday, April 20, when assailants ambushed him outside his store around 10 a.m.
Footage provided by his family depicted three individuals in a Toyota Sequoia waiting in a parking lot adjacent to Royal Bee Beauty Supply.
According to a spokesperson for Al Ghazali’s family, the gunmen had been stationed there for two hours before the business owner eventually arrived at the store’s rear entrance.
The surveillance footage depicted Al Ghazali maneuvering his black truck into the back parking lot, while the Toyota exited the adjacent parking lot and obstructed the exit.
Three individuals emerged from the SUV and commenced firing at Al Ghazali. In response, Al Ghazali drove his truck toward the gunmen, colliding with the Toyota, causing them to leap out of harm’s way while continuing to shoot.
Subsequently, with his truck immobilized and its emergency lights activated, Al Ghazali became a target for at least one gunman who fired shots directly into the truck from outside the driver’s window.
The three assailants then fled on foot. As of Thursday, April 25, Memphis Police had not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
