No weapon found on Cimarron-Memorial High School campus

The lockdown will be lifted as soon as police give the all-clear.

Update: CCSD Police have lifted the lockdown and cleared the school to resume normal operations.

The school went into a soft lockdown today while police investigated a rumor about a weapon on campus. Thankfully, after their search, no weapon was found and there was never any actual threat.

Here’s what the school principal, McNaught, said in an email to parents:

  • The lockdown will be lifted as soon as police give the all-clear.
  • They will then update everyone on the plan for the rest of the day.
  • This is a good reminder to talk to your child about school safety.
  • If your child ever sees or hears something that might be a safety concern, encourage them to tell an adult right away.
  • There are also multiple ways to report safety concerns anonymously through the SafeVoice system:
    • Call 1-833-216-7233
    • Visit the website: safevoicenv.org
    • Download the free SafeVoice app
    • Original Report:Cimarron-Memorial High School has been placed on lockdown as police conduct an investigation.

The Clark County School District stated that “police are examining rumors, and the precautionary lockdown was implemented.”

Principal Colin McNaught communicated the following message to parents on Wednesday morning.

“The safety of our students is our number one priority. As always, we want to keep you informed of important matters happening within our school community.

Our school is currently on lockdown out of an abundance of caution as CCSD Police conduct an investigation.

Students are safe in their classrooms.

We will provide an update once we have more information to share.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please call our school at (702) 799-4400.”

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
