According to the Richland County Coroner’s Office, Mario Montecinos Ramos, who was 25 years old, has been officially identified as the victim of a fatal shooting. This information was provided by the Coroner Naida Rutherford.
The tragic event took place in the wee hours of the morning, when deputies from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 8500 block of Old Percival Road in response to reports of a shooting that had taken place at approximately one in the morning.
According to the findings of the investigation, Ramos, a resident of the property, was sleeping when his roommate, who has been identified as Castillo, accused him of shooting him. According to reports, Castillo, who made his home at the location, was the one who fired the fatal shot. Additional information that was disclosed by the authorities revealed that Castillo, Ramos, and three other individuals shared the residence as roommates. Castillo was restrained and disarmed by the other people who were inside the house as soon as they heard the gunshot. They did this while they waited for law enforcement to arrive at the scene.
It is highly likely that the prompt actions of the other residents prevented further harm and made it easier to apprehend the suspect, which provided law enforcement personnel with essential assistance.
