Regina Aune, who was a source of inspiration for each and every one of us, passed away as a result of the illness after a valiant fight against cancer. She had already been a source of inspiration for us.
Her loved ones and friends will always remember her as someone who served as a source of motivation for them and who left behind a legacy of love for them to carry on to future generations. All of the roles that she played throughout her life, including those of wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, were among the most cherished roles that she ever played.
In everything that she did, the unflinching love that she had for her family shone through and was evident. The intelligence and artistic abilities of Mom were on full display for everyone to see throughout her extraordinary career. Her career was filled with many accomplishments.
Throughout her entire life, she consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment and achieved greatness, regardless of whether she was a member of the Catholic sisterhood, a flight nurse in the Air Force, a squadron and group commander, or the dean of a nursing college.
She succeeded in all of these endeavors. Mom was able to triumph over every challenge that was placed in her path by displaying unwavering bravery and unyielding determination. She did not waver in her determination to achieve her objectives and complete the mission that she had set for herself, even after she had survived a terrible plane crash and suffered severe injuries. In her final moments, Mom said, “Let’s get this show on the road!” She was ready to accept whatever came next and she refused to be confined to a hospital bed.
She was happy to express her willingness to embrace whatever came next. The expression she was making was that she was ready to accept whatever the future held. At seven thirty-seven minutes past seven o’clock on Holy Thursday, she departed this world as a brilliant double rainbow that encircled her beloved San Antonio. It was there that she was encircled by the people she loved.
The particulars of the viewing and burial will be announced at the appropriate time in order to make certain that all of Mom’s loved ones are able to come together and pay tribute to the extraordinary life that she led.
