Kenneth Cook Obituary, Chicago, IL, Cherished LTU Engineering Technology Professor Die At 82

Kenneth Cook, a beloved engineering professor at Lawrence Technological University (LTU), passed away at the age of 82. His remarkable career spanned seven decades, leaving an indelible mark on the university and countless lives he touched.

Journey at LTU

Cook’s journey at LTU began as a student, graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. His passion for teaching and engineering excellence led him back to his alma mater, where he started as an adjunct professor in 1964. Over the years, Cook’s dedication and expertise earned him the role of chair of the Department of Engineering Technology, a position he held until his recent retirement in 2023.

A Visionary Educator and Innovator

Throughout his tenure at LTU, Cook was instrumental in transforming the engineering technology program. He expanded course offerings, upgraded the program to a bachelor’s degree, and played a pivotal role in earning accreditation for the department. Cook’s innovative approach to education included the introduction of a senior capstone project class, where students designed and manufactured prototypes of innovative products, leading to several patents and commercial success stories.

Funeral Arrangements and Donations

Visitation for Kenneth Cook will be held at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6, from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 11, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lawrence Technological University and/or the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, honoring Cook’s commitment to education and his courageous battle against cancer.
