Morgan County High School Lockdown Today:- During the approximately 20 minutes that passed on Tuesday, March 26, the Morgan County High School was placed under a “soft lockdown” while detectives worked to quickly settle a bomb threat that had been called in. This information was provided by Lieutenant Joseph Pritchett of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
He stated that at approximately one o’clock in the afternoon, a caller called Morgan County High School and described themselves as a student who was present at the school. They also stated that they were going to blow up the school. According to Pritchett, detectives and officials were able to find the kid who was described by the caller. They came to the conclusion that the student was not aware of the threat and was not complicit in it.
On the other hand, Dr. Virgil Cole, the superintendent of the Morgan County Charter School System, stated that the school immediately went into a soft lockdown once the threat was made. According to Dr. Cole, a gentle lockdown indicates that there is no threat that is either impending or immediate. According to him, when the school is in a state of hard lockdown, teachers lock the doors to their classrooms, exterior entrances are secured and guarded, and no one is permitted to enter the school grounds.
Pritchett said investigators were able to quickly identify the source of the call. “We received enough information to determine whose phone it came from,” he said. Dr. Cole said the system takes the acts seriously and would prosecute the students “to the fullest extent that we can.”
At 3 p.m., Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputies detained a 14-year-old eighth-grade student at his home. Another 13-year-old eighth-grade student was detained in connection with the threat on Wednesday morning, according to Pritchett.
According to Pritchett, both have been brought to a juvenile facility and are charged with terroristic threats and acts, as well as disruption of a public school.
