The Fall River Police Department is now conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred in the city during the afternoon. Obituary for the 4-year-old Liam Dempsey, Rhode Island  who shot and murdered

A 4-year-old child from Rhode Island who was shot and killed on Thursday is being commemorated. Police received a complaint of a killing on Frawley Street at around 8:24 a.m., and personnel of the Warwick Police Department promptly arrived at the scene. Before arriving, the responding officers were informed that a child had been shot and that the suspected attacker was still in the house with a pistol.

Upon arrival at the location, the responding officers obtained further details from Estefania Dempsey, a 33-year-old female resident who reported the incident. She affirmed that her spouse, Seamus Dempsey, aged 33, discharged a firearm and injured their son. Estefania informed the Officers that her 79-year-old mother-in-law, Ellen Dempsey, was still present in the residence. The officers present at the site were able to establish communication with Ellen and help her safely and unharmed in leaving the residence.

Police entered the residence and found the lifeless body of a little child and an adult male. Each individual exhibited signs of having sustained a gunshot injury. The male individual was positively identified as Seamus Dempsey, while the juvenile individual was identified as Liam Dempsey, a 4-year-old child who is the biological offspring of Estefania and Seamus.

As stated by a GoFundMe campaign, Liam was a student at the Warwick Early Learning Center, where his exceptional intelligence and strong love for learning were evident. His exuberant energy was infectious, spreading joy to all those in his presence.

“Liam was an exuberant individual who cherished frolicking and participating in escapades alongside his elder sibling.” He had an insatiable passion for dinosaurs and cars, and derived great pleasure from watching “Toy Story” and viewing films on YouTube.

He had a particular affinity for small things that brought him joy, such as a chicken nugget shaped like a dinosaur, his morning bagel with cream cheese, or strawberry frosted donuts from Dunkin’. Family members and close acquaintances are welcome to join a joint visitation with Seamus, the father, on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 3:00-8:00PM. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:30PM at the Thomas and Walter Quinn Funeral Home, located at 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick.
