Jonathan Van Oeffelen, a fireman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, made the ultimate sacrifice by donating his life in order to rescue the community while he was serving in active duty. He did this in order to save the town. During the time that we were working in that department, he was a member of the staff there.
A firefighter named Jonathan Van Oeffelen went away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, when he was doing his duties and offering help to the community that he had been sworn to protect and defend.
In the midst of this difficult time, the Los Angeles County Fire Department would like to extend its most heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends. Our hearts go out to you at this time of sorrow.
Unfortunately, he died away while he was fulfilling his vow to complete his responsibilities. He had promised to fulfill his obligation. Firefighter Van Oeffelen was assigned the responsibility of taking care of operations at Fire Station 52, which is located within the confines of the city of Vernon. Within the boundaries of the city of Vernon is where you will find this station.
We beg that you kindly accept our heartfelt sympathies and prayers as you go through this trying time. We are sorry for the struggles you are going through. We are thankful that you have taken what we have to say into account.
While we are going through this challenging period, we are keeping the family, friends, and colleagues of FF Van Oeffelen in our thoughts and prayers. We are grieving the loss of these individuals. At this time, prayers and thoughts are being sent up for and on behalf of them.
It has been brought to the attention of the different members of the Department of Fire, including the chaplains, the Peer Support team, the mental health doctors, and the Memorial Management team, by Anthony C. Marrone, who occupies the position of Chief of the Department of Fire.
With the purpose of ensuring that the Van Oeffelen family, in addition to our colleagues, receives the proper care and help that they need, this action is being taken with the intention of moving forward.
