Authorities in Encinitas reported that a man, 48, was killed on Sunday while riding a bicycle. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports that deputies were called to a bicycle in the 2700 block of South Coast Highway 101 at 12:10 a.m. on Sunday. The agency stated, “Medics attempted life-saving measures, but the man unfortunately died from his injuries.”
The agency released a statement stating that the victim was thought to be an Encinitas resident, but his name was being kept private until his next of kin was notified. The accident’s cause was being looked into. The department reported that there was no sign or proof of a collision with a car at the location. Sunday night, a cyclist died in Encinitas at the 2700 block of S. Coast Highway 101.
A little after 12 a.m., deputies from the sheriff’s office discovered the 48-year-old guy and his bicycle in the road’s northbound bike lane. Despite the efforts of deputies and paramedics to save his life, the victim passed away from his wounds at the scene.
