Jim Haggerty, a famous attorney and resident of Kingston for a significant amount of time, passed away on Wednesday. He was a judge of the Magisterial District. He was the chairman of the research group that contributed to the reorganization of the government system in Luzerne County, and he was responsible for its work. Four months after he revealed that he was facing an aggressive form of cancer, he passed away without any further complications. The age of the man was 58.
Haggerty was admitted to the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York, during the month of November. The center is located in the metropolitan area of Buffalo. The next day, the citizens of Kingston and Edwardsville voted him back into office as their district judge for a second term, and he will continue to serve in that capacity for a period of six years.
Haggerty reportedly passed away in a hospice facility in Buffalo, which is also the site where his sister stays, as stated by Paul Keating, the administrator of Kingston.

In order to convey the message that they are in a state of grief, the flags in Kingston have been lowered to half-staff, and black bunting will be draped at the headquarters of the Kingston Fire Department and the Kingston Municipal Building, as stated by Keating.
Between the years 1998 and 1998, Haggerty was 32 years old when he was elected mayor, and Keating was 26 years old at the time. By working on a range of initiatives, the two persons made a contribution to the advancement of the municipality. These projects included the rehabilitation of the Hoyt Library, the reconstruction of the Kingston community pool, and the creation of a centralized firehouse. “During those twenty years, a great number of very positive events took place,” Keating told the audience. Everyone in the community agreed that he was a valuable asset that could never be replicated.
The Facebook page that Haggerty maintains has been updated with additional information detailing his battle against cancer and the immunotherapy program that he followed. His most recent update, which was posted on the 28th of January, included a picture of friends who had traveled a distance of three hundred miles to visit him at the hospital. Tom Williams, who has been a friend of Haggerty’s for his whole life and who anchors the morning newscast for WBRE Eyewitness News, was identified as one of the individuals who were present.
According to Williams, who made the announcement on Thursday, “Jim loved Kingston and cared deeply about his community.” Williams made this remark earlier this week. His entire life was devoted to serving the people, and he never stopped doing so. Over the course of more than half a century, he was a wonderful friend, and the experiences that we shared will always be something that I will cherish without question.
At the time when Haggerty was elected mayor of Kingston, the city was struggling with a number of financial problems. Haggerty and his administration have been praised by State Representative Aaron Kaufer, who represents the 120th district, which is controlled by the Republican Party. Kaufer praised Haggerty for turning Kingston around. “They saved the town and put it on the trajectory for success,” noted Kaufer, who has spent his whole life in Kingston. “They put it on the trajectory for success.”
