G. Garrett On March 16th, Matthew Brown, who had been battling osteosarcoma for four years, passed suddenly. According to his family, he was the most courageous, courageous, and loving youngster that any family could ask for. The members of his devoted family were all around him. Garrett, who was just 12 years old when he received his diagnosis, confronted his illness with a level of quiet bravery that was much beyond his years. It was impossible for him to give up, and despite the fact that the struggle was unfair, he fought until the very last breath he took.
Garrett went to Archbishop Spalding High School as well as School of the Incarnation for his secondary education. His illness rendered him unable to take part in the sports that he had previously enjoyed, such as lacrosse, swimming, and golf. As a result, he discovered a new interest in sailing, which quickly became his new passion. It was on the water that he experienced the greatest joy, as he never felt constrained by his condition. Garrett’s interest for birds, insects, and animals began at a young age and continued throughout his life. When he was a young child, he would spend hours using a magnifying lens to examine insects in the backyard. He would also insist that his mother assist him in rescuing worms off the sidewalk after every inclement weather event.
In the course of his development, he had a particular fascination with reptiles, and during the course of his life, he welcomed into his family a chameleon, three snakes, and two geckos. As far as he was concerned, his Golden Retrievers, Kiwi and Kevin, were his greatest animal loves of all. During the most difficult times in his life, they offered him countless hours of happiness and cuddles. In addition to this, Garrett enjoyed spending an excessive amount of time with his pals playing video games, spending long days at the beach, participating in family game evenings, and competing against his brothers in mini golf. On numerous occasions, Garrett expressed his desire to pursue a career in medicine and devote his entire life to alleviating the misery caused by childhood cancer. Without a shadow of a doubt, he would have been successful in their endeavors.
Garrett was exceptionally bright and had a passion for education. He was a reliable source of information for his family, providing them with information on any and all related topics. Garrett was a humble person who never sought for or desired any special care or attention when he was receiving treatment for his disease. Both as a friend and a brother, he was a tremendously devoted and protective individual. He never hesitated to say what was on his mind and embraced everything he undertook with a strong degree of enthusiasm. It is precisely this enthusiasm, in addition to his witty personality and generous heart, that those who were fortunate enough to have known him will pine for the most.
Garrett’s dedicated parents, Meghan (Campbell) and Ken Brown, as well as his closest friends and brothers, Drew and Griffin Brown, are among many who will miss him after his passing. Garrett is survived by his immediate family, as well as his maternal grandparents, Mary and Michael Campbell, and his paternal grandfather, Ken Brown; his aunts and uncles, Maura and Mark Rowand; Michael Campbell; Matthew and Tara Campbell; and Amy and Jason Jubb; and his cousins Mack, Mallie, Miller, Seth, Cassie, and Ryan.
