Fe A. Hidalgo Obituary, Former OIC Secretary, Department of Education Has Died

In a notification that was made public on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that Dr. Fe A. Hidalgo, who had previously held the position of Secretary of the Office of the Inspector General, had passed away. A number of years had passed since Dr. Hidalgo had started working for the department.

in the interest of public service, notice to the public “The entire DepEd organization extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of Dr. Hidalgo,” the Department of Education (DepEd) stated in a statement. “We offer our deepest sympathies to the Hidalgo family members.” A tribute was also included in the statement, which paid tribute to the enormous influence that the educator had made over the span of several decades that had passed.

The Department of Education claims that Hidalgo “dedicated her life’s work in the field of education, serving the agency for seven decades.” This is an extra point of interest that should be taken into consideration. The year 1956 marked the beginning of her career as an educator, and she began her career in the Batanes Division as an elementary school teacher. Consequently, this event marked the beginning of her professional life.

She was a teacher in both Quezon City and Manila before she began working as an educational researcher for the Department of Education and Culture, which was formerly known as DepEd. Her previous responsibilities included teaching in both cities.

Her prior experience includes teaching in each of these cities prior to her current position. However, in addition to that, she was in charge of the Staff Development Division and served as the chief of human resource management development. She carried out both responsibilities simultaneously.

When Hidalgo was employed by the Department of Education in the year 1998, he had the position of Assistant Secretary for Programs, Projects, and Regional Operations.

Undersecretary for Programs and Projects was the title that he was given in 2001 after being promoted to that position. She was given the position of officer-in-charge (OIC) Secretary by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who had previously served as President of the Philippines. She was appointed to this position based on her past experience.
