Barbara J. McMurray, beloved resident of Aurora, Indiana, peacefully departed from this world on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the age of 77. Her journey began on May 1, 1946, in Aurora, Indiana, where she was welcomed into the loving arms of her parents, Harry DeWitt and Eliza (Abdon) DeWitt.
Barbara was a dedicated individual who poured her heart and soul into her work. For over 43 years, she served with unwavering commitment at McDonald’s, where she became an integral part of the community. Her dedication and hard work left an indelible mark on those she served and worked alongside.
Family meant everything to Barbara, and her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her daughter, Roetta Howard, and her son, Melvin McMurray, who will forever cherish her memory and the invaluable lessons she imparted upon them. Additionally, Barbara is survived by her brother, Gary DeWitt, and his wife Carolyn, along with 12 adoring grandchildren and 8 cherished great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving father, Harry DeWitt, her devoted mother, Eliza DeWitt, and her beloved son, Rocky McMurray. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her dear brother, Harry DeWitt, leaving behind a void that can only be filled with the warmth of cherished memories and the solace of knowing she rests in eternal peace.
In honor of Barbara’s life and the love she shared, friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. During this time, memories will be shared, tears shed, and laughter echoed as loved ones gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman.
Following the visitation, a service to commemorate Barbara’s life will be held at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home at 12:00 pm, where her enduring legacy will be honored and her spirit celebrated. As her journey on this earth comes to a close, Barbara will find her final resting place at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature, where her spirit can soar freely for eternity.
