Alan Parra Obituary, In Loving Memory Of A Cherished Soul

Alan Lewis Parra, a beloved member of the Sumter community, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, at the age of 75. Born and raised in Sumter, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Luella Parra, a lineage deeply rooted in the local fabric of the town. Alan’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to service, both to his country and his family.

Alan proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, a testament to his patriotism and commitment to defending the freedoms cherished by his fellow citizens. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career with Benore Trucking, where his hard work and diligence earned him the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike. After many years of dedicated service, Alan retired, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and integrity.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Alan’s most cherished role was that of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Jeannette Key Parra, with whom he built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they weathered life’s challenges and celebrated its joys, their bond a beacon of strength and unwavering support.

Alan leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in the hearts of his two daughters, Stephanie Elaine Mawby and Cheree Renee Parra. To them, he was not only a father but also a guiding light, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love throughout their lives. His daughters find solace in the memories they shared, knowing that his spirit will forever reside in their hearts.

In addition to his immediate family, Alan is survived by his sister, Bonnie Salvador, of Lafayette, Louisiana. Despite the geographical distance, the bond between siblings remained unbreakable, a testament to the enduring power of family ties. Bonnie remembers her brother fondly, cherishing the moments they shared and finding comfort in the memories that will forever live on.

Alan’s legacy extends to the next generations through his four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He delighted in their laughter, marveled at their achievements, and showered them with unconditional love and affection. Though he may no longer be physically present, his influence continues to shape the lives of those he held dear.

To honor and celebrate Alan’s remarkable life, a joyous celebration of life will be held at his home on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Family, friends, and members of the community are invited to come together to pay tribute to a man whose impact reached far and wide. It will be a time of remembrance, laughter, and shared stories, as those who knew Alan best come together to celebrate the life of a truly extraordinary individual.
