At the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, after a valiant and courageous fight against cancer, she passed away peacefully with her family by her side. In her 65th year, Sylvia Murphy has been Andy Murphy’s cherished wife for the past 44 years. I am a devoted and loving mother to my two children, Nick (Melissa) and Anthony (Brittany). Owen, Paisley, Cameron, and Lincoln hold their Oma in the highest regard and adoration. Sylvia Jenkins, who was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, was preceded in death by her parents, Eileen and Ralph Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Wilson, as well as her children Carolyn (Geoff Rideout), Scott, and Susan, as well as her grandchildren Sophie and Max, who are both gorgeous. She was a cherished sister to Gail (Ken Armstrong), David Jenkins (Nora), Kent Jenkins (Janice), and Linda (Bob McMurdo), as well as a sister-in-law to Bev Murphy (Paul – Deceased), and an aunt to a large number of nieces and nephews. There is a big group of friends who are also grieving the loss of Sylvia. Among these friends are Heather Hubley and the girls from the TK Club in Charlottetown, as well as special pals Elsie Rideout and Allison Pittman.
Sylvia had a successful career as a Registered Nurse at the Janeway and Glenbrook Lodges, where she was responsible for providing residents and their families with care and support all during her tenure. There was no doubt that Sylvia possessed a radiant and lovely spirit. She had the potential to touch the lives and hearts of a great number of people, and her brilliant smile, enthusiasm, and capability allowed her to do so. She will be much missed. Both of Sylvia’s parents, Sigrid and Karl Heinz Heissler, passed away before she was born. I am the beloved sister of Peter Heissler.
Respected sister-in-law of Paul Murphy (Roslyn) and Alice English (Bill Durdle), who held her in high esteem. She will be remembered with affection by a large number of nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbours. Sylvia was more larger than life. It was with all of her heart that she loved. She was kind, genuine, and daring all at the same time. Whenever she was in the room, she made everyone feel like they were someone unique. It is because of the immense love that Sylvia had for her family and friends that she will be remembered and adored beyond all time.
There are two grandkids, Chelsey and Faith Sacre, as well as Frank Benson and his wife Carol, who also reside in Gorham. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, September 13, beginning at four o’clock in the afternoon and continuing until six o’clock in the evening. The Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel is located at 1024 Broadway in South Portland. You may find it by following the directions given above. Because of the tremendous love that Sylvia had for her family and friends, she will be remembered and treasured for all of eternity.
This is the reason why Sylvia will be remembered and cherished. At eleven o’clock on the morning of Friday, March 22, 2024, the chapel will serve as the location of a funeral ceremony that will honour and commemorate the life of Sylvia.
The ceremony will take place when Sylvia passes away. The ceremony is scheduled to take place the day after tomorrow. Following the conclusion of that, there will be a reception that will take place in the Trafalgar Room. This person has been cremated, and the ceremonies have been completed.
