Robert Allen Obituary, Death, A Life Lived with Passion and Purpose

Our hearts are heavy as we convey the news that Robert (Bob) Thomas Allen died away on February 26, 2024, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loved ones and supportive family.

To the late Ira Allen, Jr. and Mary Ann Strickland Allen, Mr. Allen was born on February 19, 1949 in Johnston County, North Carolina. His parents have since passed away.

Before retiring in 2014, Mr. Allen was the proprietor and operator of Smithfield Typewriter Sales & Service. He later worked for House Autry and Becton Dickinson in Four Oaks, North Carolina, until he reached the age of retirement. The First Baptist Church in Four Oaks, North Carolina was his place of worship. As far as Robert was concerned, nothing was more important than his religious beliefs and the time he spent with his wife, Rose, his children, and his grandkids. In addition to that, he was a committed cyclist who could be found riding one of his many bicycles in virtually any location.

On the job, he made a lot of friends who would be with him for the rest of his life, and he was happy to serve his community as a firefighter in Victoria. In addition to being a devoted parent, Bob was also a kind Papa.

Active throughout his entire life, he enjoyed participating in a wide variety of sports, including water skiing, boxing, karate (black belt), coaching soccer, competing in the World Police/Fire Games, running (FF Hosers and marathons), skiing, snowboarding, and ultimately, golf and mountain biking, which he found to be his favorite activities later in life. Bob was a person who cherished his friendships and embraced life. He had reached a state of contentment with his existence.

Margo, his wife of 53 years, and their two daughters Brooke (Brad Chouinard, granddaughters Sloane and Trey) and Kelsey (Dean Bayles, grandkids Brynlee and Raelle), as well as his brother Gary Allen (Glynis) and brother-in-law Eric Heater (Wendy), are among those who are left behind after his passing.
The outpouring of affection for our loving husband and father Bob has left us feeling moved and thankful. We are thankful for the amazing support that we have received from our family and friends.
