Harold Martin Obituary, Death, A Remarkable Life Remembered

The death of Harold Lovice Martin, who was 80 years old and lived in Moulton, took place on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in his residence, surrounded by his loved ones. Harold Martin was a devoted Christian servant who was a member of the Landersville Church of Christ. He was born on May 9, 1943, to family members Lovice Martin and Alice Benton Martin.

There were several roles that he played there that he cherished and appreciated. Amoco Chemical was his place of employment for 34 years, and he had been retired for 26 years at that point. Harold had a passion for playing baseball and basketball when he was in high school. In addition to that, he coached his daughter and his grandsons in various sporting activities and was always there to support them in everything they achieved.

A member of the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame, he was honored with acceptance. His enthusiasm for sports was passed on to a large number of young people, with whom he shared his enthusiasm for the game. He was a devoted supporter of the Auburn Tigers.

The following individuals are among his survivors: his wife of 61 years, Sarah Elkins Martin; his daughter, Melanie Martin Little (Steven); his two grandsons, Micah Little (Callie) and Martin Little (Erika); his great-grandchildren, Emmaline Little and Harper Little; his brother by choice, J.W. Portwood (Gearldean); and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

All of Harold’s relatives, including his parents, Lovice and Alice Martin, as well as his brother, Ronald Martin, passed away before him. The Hatton Church of Christ will be the location of the visitation that will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Ben Phillips will preside over the funeral service, which will take place at Hatton Church of Christ on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at three o’clock in the afternoon. Lawrence Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

The Rock Springs Cemetery in Mount Hope will be the location of the interment. In addition to J.W. Portwood, Allen Pickens, Lanier Sibley, Andy Elkins, Tim Taylor, Murry Morrow, Donnie Mitchell, and Wilmer Tharke, the following individuals will serve as pallbearers.

It is with great gratitude that the family expresses their gratitude to the nurses and personnel at Amedisys Hospice, particularly to nurses Heidi, Jason, and Julie. In addition, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our granddaughter-in-love, Callie, for the tender loving care that she provided to “Big Daddy.”
