Betty Tyler Obituary, Death, A Life Lived with Passion and Purpose

 On August 12, 2014, at the age of 86, Betty L. Tyler, who resided in Crisfield, passed away at her residence. She was the daughter of Harvey G. Hathaway, who passed away, and Annie Cox Hathaway, who also passed away, that was born on June 20, 1928 in Edgecomb County, North Carolina. By the time she passed away on July 22, 2002, her husband of 59 years, Carl L. “Kie” Tyler, had already passed away.

She worked for Rubberset Corporation in Crisfield for 23 years before retiring and becoming a homemaker. When she was in Marion, she was a member of Christ Fellowship Bible Church. Watching The Young and the Restless, working in her yard, cutting grass, and cutting flowers were some of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch and watching hummingbirds.

Above all else, she cherished the time she got to spend with her family. It was her passion to prepare meals for them and all of their friends. In addition to that, she would take pleasure in dining out with them, particularly at Tokyo Steakhouse. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the ones she cherished the most, and she was a caregiver for them. In addition to being their true best friend, she took pleasure in watching them compete in sports.

In addition to her two sons, Danny Tyler and his wife Vera, and Harvey Tyler, she is survived by her daughter Ellen Ann Daisey and her husband Asher, all of Crisfield; her three grandchildren, Christen Leigh Tyler, Carl William Tyler and his wife Lindsay, of Crisfield, and Charles Danny “Charlie” Tyler and his wife Joscelyne, of Marion; her three great-grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Burke, Carly Grace Tyler, and Owen Matthew Monroe; her three “adopted” granddaughters, Naomi Barnes, Carly and Cassidy Marshall, and a large number of loving nieces and nephews in North Carolina and Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, as well as by a brother named Horace Hathaway and three sisters named Doris Stroup, Jeanette Watson, and Elizabeth Edmondson. Her parents and husband were predeceased by her.

On Saturday, August 16, 2014, at three o’clock in the afternoon, funeral services will be place at Christ Fellowship Bible Church in Marion. The Reverend Steve Willing will preside over the ceremony. An open house will be hosted at the funeral home of Bradshaw & Sons on Friday evening from seven to nine o’clock. Memorial Park at Sunnyridge will be the location of the interment.
