William Gill Jr. Obituary, Death, A Life of Love and Legacy

William “Bill” Gill Jr., who was 80 years old and originally from Cumberland, Wisconsin, passed away in a peaceful and tranquil manner on March 16, 2024, in the city of Colfax, Wisconsin. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. His birth took place on May 4, 1943 in Cumberland, Wisconsin, and his parents, William Sr. and Irene (Balko) Gill, were overjoyed to welcome him into the world.

After completing his high school education at Cumberland High School in 1961, Bill went on to pursue further study at the University of Wisconsin River Falls, where he eventually received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

At the same time that he was working as a 4-H agent at the Barron County Courthouse, he was also teaching at Cumberland High School for a period of four years. In addition to this, he continued to operate a sizable dairy farm in the Township of Cumberland, which was the location of his childhood home.

Not only was Bill honored as a Star Farmer, but he also received honors for the Jersey cattle that he successfully raised. In light of the fact that he had a profound affection for farming and a strong desire to impart knowledge to others, he invited students from various countries to visit his farm in order to educate them on agricultural practices. Welding, woodworking, dreaming about big ideas, playing the piano, listening to music, baking, cooking, and socializing with people from all walks of life were the activities that Bill enjoyed the most.

He also enjoyed woodworking and welding. Those who are left behind after his passing include his two nieces, Kelly Clausen (Tim Kohnhorst) and Jody Shea (Troy), as well as six great nephews and great nieces, Miranda, Brandon, Thomas, Morgan, Tyler, and Madelyn. Additionally, his sister-in-law, Peggy Gill, and a large number of friends who were very dear to him are also being left behind. William Sr. and Irene Gill, his parents, as well as his brother Larry Gill and his sister Sandra Gill, all went away before he did.

He was the last surviving member of his family. On Thursday, March 28, 2024, at six o’clock in the evening, funeral services are going to be held at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The date and time of the funeral services have not yet been determined. On Thursday, March 28, visitation will be held from four in the afternoon to six o’clock in the evening.
