David Platt Obituary, Death, A Remarkable Life Remembered

On October 9, 2023, David Vincent Platt, who was 41 years old, passed dead. Although he was born in Show Low, he spent his childhood in St. John’s. Over the course of his football career and his time spent playing linebacker for the St. John’s High School Redskins, he was honored with a number of accolades and graduated as the school’s Salutatorian.

During his time in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was assigned to the Idaho-Pocatello Mission, which consisted of Spanish-speaking individuals.

Over the course of his studies at the University of the Pacific, David earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors. Following his relocation to Lakeside, he founded his dental practice, which is now known as Platt Family Dental. In 2008, David tied the knot with Stephanie. In addition to having two great children, David and Alexandra, they have been together for fifteen happy years. Each and every Saturday of the Penn State football season, David was a loyal Penn State alumnus, and he was always there to cheer on his beloved Nittany Lions to victory. After serving in the United States Navy from 1970 until 1972, he was discharged with distinction in 1976. During that time, he was stationed in Panama.

Over the course of his life, David was a true entrepreneur who pursued a wide range of commercial interests. His motive for always being his own boss was his lifelong desire to avoid wearing a suit and tie. He had this goal throughout his entire life.

The Newtown Swim Club and the Newtown Day Camp were both under his ownership and management from 1983 until 2013. Between the years 1972 and 2001, he was a pioneer in the retail golf industry, opening a total of 24 golf stores, golf courses, driving ranges, and mini-golf courses across three states under the banner of Somerton Springs.

David was a member of the Bucks County Community College Foundation in addition to serving on the Board of Directors of the George School Committee, which was a committee of the old Northeast Federal Savings Bank and Prime Bank.

He had been a member of the Bucks County Planning Commission for a considerable amount of time. David was a proud member of the Richie Ashburn Celebrity Golf Classic board of directors and acted as a sponsor for the event. Over the course of his tenure, they were successful in raising more than one million dollars for the Boy Scouts of America.
