Paul Alexander Death, Obituary, Paul Alexander, The Man in the Iron Lung Has Died

The death of Paul Alexander, also known as “The Man in the Iron Lung,” occurred yesterday. In spite of having survived polio as a child, he lived for more than seventy years while confined to an iron lung. During this time period, Paul attended college, went on to become a lawyer, and had his writing published.

People from all around the world were pleasantly impacted by his narrative, which spread far and wide with it. Undoubtedly, Paul was an outstanding example to follow, and his legacy will go on forever.

During the year 2022, we did an interview with Paul. He received a significant amount of financial support from our community. I have just finished a phone call with Philip, who is Pauls’ brother, and he wants to convey the following message to me. My brother’s fundraising was a success, and I am really thankful to everyone who contributed to it.

It made it possible for him to remain stress-free throughout his final years. In addition to that, it will cover the costs of his funeral during this trying time. After reading all of the comments, it is simply fantastic to realize that Paul served as a source of motivation for a great number of individuals. Simply put, I am extremely thankful.

Paul, you will be truly missed, but you will never be forgotten. I am grateful that you have shared your story with us. At the age of 76, Paul Alexander, who resided in Dyersburg, passed away at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

He was born on October 30, 1947, and his parents, John Westbrook Alexander and Annie Boone Alexander, both passed away years ago. The R/C Flying Club – Fairgrounds Flyers counted him as a member at one point. On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at one o’clock in the afternoon, funeral services will be held at the graveside in Fairview Cemetery. Pastor Robin Rotgers will preside over the ceremony.

At the funeral home on Wednesday, the family will greet friends beginning at eleven in the morning and continuing until twelve forty-five in the end. James Jones, Kenneth Perry, Bryan Jones, Justin Jones, and Kenneth Alexander will act as pallbearers. Brandon Alexander will also represent the family. Teresa Alexander, his wife of 34 years, his daughters Nikki Alexander Ryan Hankins of Obion and Shelly Wood Douglas of Byhalia, Mississippi, his son Brandon Alexander of Troy, and five grandkids are among those who are able to carry on his legacy through their inheritance.

One of his brothers, John Alexander, as well as two of his sisters, Bobbie Ricketts and Barbara McPhail, passed away before him. His parents were also among those who passed away before him. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for the funeral services presently.
