It has been determined that the individual who was killed in a shooting that occurred just after midnight on Sunday was a local business owner who also owned a home remodeling company in Kansas City.
According to the investigations conducted by the Kansas City Police Department, John Bartrom, 46, who was the founder of Jericho Home Improvements, LLC, passed away after being discovered shot in a company parking lot located on Prospect Avenue.
A medical emergency was reported in the 6200 block of Prospect Avenue on January 7 at little after midnight, and officers arrived to the scene. According to the police, they discovered Bartrom laying in a parking lot, lifeless, when they arrived at the scene.
A spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department named Officer Alayna Gonzalez stated that it appeared as though Bartrom was experiencing a medical emergency, and police provided assistance to him until the arrival of emergency medical personnel. It was then determined that Bartrom had been shot after he was sent to a local hospital because of the incident. Upon arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced dead.
The data that is collected by The Star indicates that this particular killing is the second homicide that has occurred in Kansas City this year. It was verified on Tuesday to The Star by Bartrom’s family that he had passed away, and the family has stated that they intend to fly to Kansas City in the days ahead. Bartrom was one of the most well-known figures in the Kansas City community due to his participation in ads for his company, Jericho Home Improvements.
The company specializes in the construction of single-family homes, with a particular emphasis on the remodeling of households’ kitchens and bathrooms. According to the website of the company, they are the “largest independent kitchen and bath remodeler in the nation.” According to a service map that can be found on the website, it provides services to at least 57 regional communities.
After gaining experience in sales at a number of other organizations, including Home Depot, Bartrom established Jericho Home Improvements in the year 2009.
The statement that Batrom made on his LinkedIn page was that he desired to establish a robust culture at Jericho that prioritized “doing the right thing” and “taking care of employees.” Additionally, a note from Bartrom is also included on the website of the company to describe its humanitarian actions. Humanitarian organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Living Water International, and The Global Orphan Project are among the charitable organizations that the corporation has supported in the past.
