Shooting At Arbor Place Mall, Two Shot at Arbor Place Mall Today

This comes after the Chief of Police of Douglasville turned to social media on Friday to emphasize that the National Cinema Day event that would take place this year will be different from the one that took place the previous year.

According to the police department, two adolescents were taken into custody after a brawl broke out inside the Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville on Sunday evening for no apparent reason. A brawl involving a group of ten adolescents was reported to have occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m., according to the authorities.

There was a loud boom that was caused by a sign that toppled at some point, which led to others reporting that they heard gunfire. Officers from the Douglasville Police Department stated that there is no indication of any gunfire and that there have been no injuries recorded as a result of the brawl. The Regal Cinemas have decided to close its doors for the evening as a result of the event. As part of the celebrations for National Cinema Day, the theater has been providing movies for a price of $4 on Sundays.

On Friday of last week, Douglasville Police Chief Gary Sparks took to social media to voice his belief that the event that will take place this year would not be a replica of the one that took place the previous year.

A crowd of up to two hundred people and a number of fights broke out at the movie theater during the event that took place the year before. The movie theater was advertising a movie night for three dollars. Sparks said in an earlier statement that as a consequence of this, 19 adolescents and one adult were brought into custody.

As an additional charge, Sparks stated that nine individuals were charged with violating the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, in addition to other offenses. For the purpose of preparing for the event that will take place this year, Sparks stated that the Douglasville Police Department coordinated their safety efforts in advance with the management of Regal Cinemas and the mall security.

Sparks stated that all of his officers were present on Sunday in order to assist in maintaining everyone’s safety. “Parents don’t seem to understand the times we are living in,” Sparks stated in the release she issued. “I’m going to make sure this city is safe.”
