It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Anthony Gilligan, a cherished member of the community from Culleendarragh, Multyfarnham, Westmeath, and Mullingar. Our hearts are heavy as we extend our sincere sympathy to Anthony’s entire family during this difficult time, especially his children Ann, Martin, Tony, and Olga.
Anthony leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, evident in the fond memories shared with his cherished grandchildren. Our thoughts and condolences also extend to his dear friend Mary, sons-in-law Andrew Feerick and Gerry Whyte, daughters-in-law Siobhán and Laura, as well as his nieces, nephews, and relatives who undoubtedly feel the profound loss of his presence.
We acknowledge the grief felt by the many friends and former colleagues of St. Loman’s Hospital in Mullingar, where Anthony was undoubtedly a respected and valued member of the community. His contributions to both his professional and personal spheres have left an enduring impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
In the spirit of honoring Anthony’s life, friends, family, and well-wishers are invited to pay their respects during the repose at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home on Monday starting from 4 pm. Following the period of repose, a Removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King will take place, with arrival scheduled for 6.30 pm.
Anthony’s Funeral Mass, a celebration of his life and the impact he had on those around him, will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Subsequently, a cremation ceremony will take place at Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan, marking the final journey of a beloved individual whose memory will forever reside in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we bid farewell to Anthony, may he find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam – may his soul rest in peace. Our collective thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this time of grief and remembrance.
