The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after one person was shot and killed Thursday evening. Deputies responded to calls about a shooting just before 8:45 p.m. in the 5400 block of Miranda Drive. When deputies arrived they found a man who was unresponsive outside with gunshot wounds.
Sunday, December 24, the sheriff’s office identified the man as 33-year-old Duane Quarles Jr of Plainfield, New Jersey Officers said he was pronounced dead on the scene. Cumberland County police are investigating a triple shooting that led to the deaths of two teenagers on Saturday night. Police in Bridgeton, New Jersey, say they were called to the scene on the 100 block of Oxford Street just after 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The two teens were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say another victim, a 17-year-old male, also sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. There is no word yet on the identities of the victims. The investigation later revealed that the three victims were on the front porch of an area residence when someone approached and fired several shots at them. Officials say the shooter immediately fled the scene. Authorities believe the victims were targeted in this shooting. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Three teens were ambushed as they sat on the porch outside a Cumberland County, New Jersey, home over the weekend, leaving two of them dead, according to police. Officers arrived to find the two teens dead and a third teen a 17-year-old boy bleeding from a gunshot wound, police said. That boy was rushed to the hospital where he remained in stable condition Monday. None of the teens who have not been named lived on Oxford Street, police said, but rather lived in elsewhere in Bridgeton.
Authorities in Cumberland County continue to investigate a Thursday night shooting in which police officers fatally shot a man who allegedly had a gun along Conodoguinet Creek. Cumberland County District Attorney Seán McCormack told WGAL on Friday that his office will be reviewing body camera footage from police officers and conducting interviews about the shooting.

After some time, the witness said the man, who was armed with a gun, began approaching police officers who had taken up a position further up the road around the intersection of Erbs Bridge Road and Good Hope Road. Despite officers’ attempts after some time to get the man to drop the gun, the witness said the man then began approaching the officers with the gun and his arm extended or raised. The witness said he heard at least three gunshots.
