In a dramatic turn of events, law enforcement officers engaged in a high-speed chase and shootout with a Chinese national attempting to flee arrest in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Monday night. The suspect, sought by the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) for multiple charges, including kidnapping, resisted arrest and opened fire on the arresting officers, prompting a swift and intense response. The tense confrontation unfolded as PNP-AKG operatives moved in to serve a warrant of arrest on the suspect. However, the situation quickly escalated when the suspect fiercely resisted arrest and unleashed gunfire on the officers. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the PNP-AKG called for backup from the Taguig City police, setting the stage for a dramatic chase and exchange of gunfire. “Nagkameron ng chase. It’s a running gunbattle. And before that maraming sasakyan ang tinamaan na na-damage nila. And they end up here in the circle. Dito sila na-corner,” explained Taguig chief of police, Police Col. Robert Baesa, detailing the intensity of the confrontation. The pursuit led to multiple vehicles being damaged, culminating in the suspect’s eventual cornering in a designated area.
