Frederick Jay Williamson’s journey began on February 8, 1932, in Marion, Ohio, where he was born to Theron and Katie Williamson. From the very beginning, family was at the center of Fred’s life. He married the love of his life, Barbara Hershner, on February 4, 1958, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Fred was not just a husband to Barbara but also a devoted father to his children: Michael, Christa, Timothy, Michelle, and Mark. His love and devotion extended beyond his immediate family to include over three dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

A Life of Service

Fred’s life was characterized by a deep sense of duty and service to his country and his community. After graduating from Cardington-Lincoln High School in 1949, he bravely served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, honor, and patriotism that would guide him throughout his life. Upon returning home, Fred pursued a career as a barber in Cardington before eventually transitioning to a role as a guard at Marion Correctional Institution, where he faithfully served until his retirement. In addition to his professional endeavors, Fred also served as a Lincoln Township Trustee, a member of the V.F.W., and an active participant in the Mount Gilead Church of Christ. His commitment to serving others and making a positive difference in his community was unwavering and left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Fred’s life was a testament to hard work, integrity, and unwavering faith.
