Winona Adams, 71, of Wharncliffe, WV, passed away on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on March 12th, 1952, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Russell and Lucille Adams, Winona’s life journey was marked by warmth, compassion, and a deep sense of family.
A Life Well-Lived: Winona Adams was more than just a name; she embodied the essence of familial love and devotion. Throughout her life, Winona touched the hearts of many as a daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Family Matriarch: In addition to her parents, Winona was preceded in death by two brothers, Litz and Scott Adams, and a niece, Bridget Adams. Despite the loss of loved ones, Winona’s spirit remained resilient, strengthened by the love she shared with her surviving family members. She is survived by her daughter, April (Jamie) Cantrell, and her two beloved grandsons, Dillon and Devon Cantrell, all of White Pine, TN. Winona’s brother, Reed (Eloise) Adams, of Gilbert, WV, also mourns her passing, along with a host of nephews, nieces, and cherished friends.
Cherished Memories: Winona’s most treasured role was that of “Mimi” to her grandsons, Dillon and Devon, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Their laughter filled her days with happiness, and her love for them knew no bounds. A Lasting Tribute: In honoring Winona’s wishes, there will be no formal services held. Instead, her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and legacy, sharing stories of her kindness and the love she so freely gave. Winona will be laid to rest at Woodland Memorial Park in Bluefield, WV, alongside her beloved parents and brother, Scott. Though she may no longer be with us in body, Winona’s spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives of those she touched.
