It is with profound sadness that we must share the heartbreaking news of Brendan Kelly’s passing. Brendan, a resident of Beechville, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, and formerly of Station Road, Ballycumber, Offaly, peacefully departed this world surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. Brendan was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, whose presence brought joy and warmth to all who knew him. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of countless individuals and left an indelible mark on the world around him.
Honoring His Memory
Brendan is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Peg and Jimmy, as well as his brothers, Paddy and Kevin, and his nephew, Ken. He is deeply mourned and sadly missed by his loving wife, Kate, his daughter, Caroline, and his sons, Damien, Darrell, and Declan.
Brendan’s devotion to his family was unwavering, and he took immense pride in being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren, Liam, Aoife, Evelyn, Jack, Conor, Eoghan, Ben, and Caelan, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A Loving Brother and Friend
Brendan is also survived by his sister, Rose (Walshe), and his brother, Thomas, as well as his extended family members, in-laws, nephews, nieces, and a wide circle of friends. His kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Throughout his life, Brendan exemplified the virtues of compassion, integrity, and selflessness. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and never hesitated to offer support and encouragement to others.
A Celebration of Life
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and honor Brendan’s memory during the repose at Flynn’s Funeral Home, The Strand, Athlone (N37 WY17) on Sunday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm. A requiem Mass will be held in Our Lady’s Queen of Peace, Coosan Church on Monday at 12 noon, followed by burial in Coosan Cemetery. As we bid farewell to Brendan Kelly, let us remember the legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that he leaves behind. May his gentle soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all to live our lives with purpose, gratitude, and love.
