With deep sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Richard Edward Bush at the age of 79. A resident of Manahawkin, NJ, Richie passed away peacefully in his favorite chair in the home he built and cherished for 31 years. Richie was born in Middlesex, NJ, to his devoted parents, Edward and Mabel Bush, and was the older brother to his sister, Doreen. Richie’s childhood in Middlesex was marked by a passion for athletics, particularly baseball, which led him to pitch at Grand Canyon College before he was called to service during the Vietnam War.
Service to Country and Community
Richie’s sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow soldiers. Upon his return, Richie continued to serve his community, embodying the values of selflessness and compassion.
Richie’s greatest source of joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linda, for 54 years, and a loving father to his three children, Michael, Sarah, and Emily. Richie’s commitment to his family extended beyond words, as he worked tirelessly to provide them with a beautiful home and a life filled with love and laughter.
A Legacy of Love and Laughter
Richie’s infectious laughter and warm smile lit up every room he entered. He had a knack for finding joy in the simplest of moments and spreading that joy to those around him. Whether he was sharing stories with friends, coaching Little League baseball, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home with his family, Richie’s presence brought light and happiness to all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Richie, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, may we find solace in the knowledge that Richie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Until we meet again, may he rest in peace.
Cherished Memories and Lasting Impact
As we mourn the loss of Richie, we take solace in the countless memories we shared with him and the lasting impact he had on our lives. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire us for years to come. Though Richie may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, surrounded by love. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in Richie’s honor. Let us honor his memory by continuing to uphold the values of kindness, compassion, and service that he held dear.
