Little did he know that this decision would lead him to encounter the love of his life, Bernice, whom he would later marry in October 1963.
During his three-year service in the Army, Paul’s dedication and commitment were evident, culminating in a special assignment on a protective detail for then President John F. Kennedy during a visit to the base. While working for Lightning Products and Crown Rubber, Paul pursued his education, earning a 2-year degree from what was then known as Terra Technical College.

In 1978, Paul began his tenure with Nationwide Insurance, marking the beginning of a distinguished 26-year career with the company. Despite the challenges of starting anew, Paul’s tireless work ethic and unwavering determination propelled him to success.
In those early years of earning straight commissions selling insurance, the Hescht family relied on hot dogs and bologna sandwiches to make ends meet. However, Paul’s resilience and dedication soon bore fruit, as he consistently excelled in his role, earning several top sales awards and even winning trips to coveted destinations such as Atlantic City, Seattle, and Las Vegas.
