Norman S. Keating, a beloved member of the Saint John, New Brunswick community, passed away on February 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication to his family and community. His departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.
Norman was born to Stan and Gertrude Keating and grew up alongside his siblings Murray, Mae, Cleadie, and Doreen. From a young age, Norman exhibited a strong sense of responsibility and a deep commitment to helping others—a trait that would define his life’s work.
Throughout his life, Norman was a pillar of strength for his family. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Verna, and together they raised their son Geoffrey with unwavering support and guidance. Norman’s devotion to his family was evident in everything he did, and his role as a husband, father, and grandfather brought him immeasurable joy and fulfillment. In addition to his roles within his family, Norman was an active member of the Saint John community. He dedicated countless hours to organizations such as Kiwanis Saint John and PRO Kids, where he worked tirelessly to support local initiatives and improve the lives of those in need. Norman’s selfless contributions made a lasting impact on the community he called home, and his commitment to service will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Norman’s passing is deeply mourned by his loved ones, including his wife Verna, his son Geoffrey, his grandchildren Sam and Rachel, and his siblings-in-law Ronald and Donna. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom cherished his presence in their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Kiwanis Saint John or PRO Kids in Norman’s honor. These organizations held a special place in Norman’s heart, and supporting them is a fitting way to honor his memory and continue his legacy of service.
