 In the tender embrace of heavenly grace, Rick V. Ellison, born on October 4, 1960, peacefully transitioned to join his heavenly family and his Lord on February 8, 2024. As we reflect on his journey, we find solace in the love, warmth, and kindness that defined his remarkable life. Rick was a cherished member of the St. Mary’s Hospital family for over 35 years, leaving an indelible mark on those he served alongside.

His dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment endeared him to colleagues, patients, and all who had the privilege of knowing him during his tenure. Continuing his path of service, Rick brought his genuine warmth and exceptional qualities to UT Hospital, where he contributed for 12 years. In this new chapter, his circle of friends expanded, and many at UT Hospital regarded him not just as a colleague but as a truly wonderful man, a friend, and an extended family member.

The Heart of Rick: Love, Kindness, and an Amazing Soul

Rick’s magnetic personality left an indelible impact on everyone he encountered. His love, kindness, and the warmth of his soul had the power to light up any room.

A beacon of positivity, he shared his sense of humor generously, making him a joy to be around. Colleagues, friends, and family alike were touched by the extraordinary person Rick was. Rick’s life journey was intertwined with the love and companionship of his husband, Dan Trenthan, whom he adored for 35 beautiful years. As they faced life’s joys and challenges hand in hand, their love created cherished memories that remain etched in the hearts of those who knew them.

A Family Mourns: Honoring Rick’s Legacy

Rick’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. Preceded in death by his husband, Dan Trenthan, his mother Joann Padgett Ellison, brothers Harold Ellison and Jimmy Ellison, and sister Mary Frank, Rick is survived by his loving sister Kim Ashley. The circle of family extends to Aunt Ruby Dahney, Special Cousin Tim Steinki, several nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Special friends, Jeff, Kathy, and Shaylee Pappas, also held a unique place in Rick’s heart. 

The Ellison family, along with friends, invites all who knew and cherished Rick to pay their respects on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. This time of reflection and shared memories will be an opportunity to honor Rick’s legacy and offer comfort to one another.
